Social Media ‘Hide and Seek’ -

social media 1000 x 300With more and more business using social media we’re seeing lots of ways to hook up and connect with them via social media and more visual than any is the company vehicle fleet.

Driving around the North East, every day I’ll be driving behind a van and they’ll have a ‘follow us on twitter’ sticker or ‘like us on facebook’, brilliant they want you to engage….not so brilliant is that they don’t tell you where to go.

Getting back to the office and trying to remember and find the brand is easier said than done.  So what’s the solution…simple just add your twitter name or facebook page after the logo, it’s just that one further step you go to making it easier for your customers :)

Swimathon 2014 -

Well that’s the Swimathon completed for the 5th year running by Team Twimmers!  We’ve managed to raise over £400 this year which takes our 5 year total to over £2000!

Swimathon encouraged participants to use the hashtag #swimathonselfie this year so they could capture all the swimmers poolside….I still havn’t mastered the art of where to look when taking a ‘selfie’ but here you have it :)

If You Can’t Smile, Don’t Work in Retail -

Is it so hard to ‘serve with a smile’?  I’m a huge fan of ‘buy local’ and nothing makes me happier than seeing a local business thrive BUT I do wonder sometimes just why certain types of people venture in to retail at all!

So here’s my 5 top tips for retailers…

  • Keep your door open – (weather permitting) it’s saying ‘come in – we’re open for business’
  • Put the lights on – I can’t believe I’m typing that but yes I’ve been passed several shops thinking they’re closed but no, they’re cost saving
  • Let me browse, but a little “hello, just shout if you need me” is a nice to have – chatting to your work pal and blanking the customer is just rude
  • Don’t smoke outside your premises (really I’m typing that) but nothing puts you off more than seeing staff standing outside their workplace puffing on a fag
  • Smile as you serve, say thank you it’s not that hard surely
